MY REVIEW:

Best line: "the sirens sang so sweet / and watched the sailors going down"

What I think the lyrics are about: I think the lyrics can mean a lot of different things to different people, and to me, I think that literally it is about sirens and their enchanting voices. Although, on a deeper level, I think the lyrics are referring to a girl falling in love with a charming, sweet-talking playboy (?). Okay, maybe not a playboy, but someone who is dangerous, untrustworthy, and is pretty much a heart-breaker. He's a liar, he's dangerous for her, and at the same time, she finds that she is mad with desire for him - and all the while he just watches. This is likened to the sirens and the sailors (except there's a bit of a role reversal here, in that the siren refers to the playboy, while the drowning sailor refers to the girl), with the enchanted sailors drowning, and the sirens are more or less indifferent.

What this song reminds me of: It kind of reminds me of this friend I have... It's quite confusing and complicated at this point in time... So. I don't know.

My bottom-line review: Great lyrics, great tune, great song. :)
